As the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases continue to rise in the Caraga Region, the region’s mining industry said it has stepped up relief efforts to ease the pandemic’s impact on the region’s over two million households.
The Philippine Nickel Industry Association (PNIA) said its members have channeled a total of over P38 million of their social development funds to Caraga, Palawan, and Zambales. They have also aided frontliners and some 66,200 households in Metro Manila.
Top officials of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) recently visited TVI Resource Development Philippines Inc. (TVIRD) at its mine site at Sitio Canatuan, Siocon Municipality of this province to observe the implementation of the company’s Final Mine Rehabilitation and Decommissioning Plan (FMRDP).
