Ferdinand Pallera

Mr. Ferdinand M. Pallera is one of the founders of the Philippine Nickel Industry Association (PNIA). He was elected as Chairman of PNIA on July 2020.

He has over 30 years of senior leadership, general operations management and business development track record across sectors that include mining, infrastructure, power, construction, restaurant and hospitality industry. Mr. Pallera specializes in strategic planning, legal strategy, operations management, corporate and business development.

He sits in the Board of PNIA as representative of Citinickel Mines and Development Corporation (CMDC) where he has been serving as the company president since 2006. He is a director of the board and vice president for administration of the Oriental Peninsula Resources Group, Inc. (ORE), the publicly listed holding company of CMDC. He is also managing Hardrock Aggregates Inc., a non-metallic mining company affiliate of the group, as vice president for operations.

Beyond the mining sector, Mr. Pallera is also in renewable energy, properties and hospitality industry. He sits as vice president of Oriental Energy and Power Generation Corporation, a power generation company that produces renewable energy through run-of-the-river hydropower. He is also the Vice President of Monte De Tesoro Corporation a real estate company currently developing and operating office building and commercial spaces focusing in Metro Manila; and managing director of Oriental Grand Resorts & Leisure Corporation.

Mr. Pallera earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, major in industrial management engineering, in 1988, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce, major in Management, in 1990.

For more than two years, Mr. Alcantara relentlessly worked on the frontlines to strengthen the reputation of the industry, to forge trust-based relationships with stakeholders and to educate the public own the contributions of the industry to the economy and to the society. Through Mr. Alcantara’s exemplary foresight, astuteness and tenacity, he adeptly steered the industry to overcome a period of extraordinary unpredictability. Through diplomacy and goodwill, Mre. Alcantara made it possible for the industry’s voice to be recognized in important discussions that has great influence on the future of the nickel sector. In March 2019, Mr. Alcantara was instrumentale in driving and inspiring the entire industry towards the successful hosting of the first nickel initiative business forum which showed the nickel sector’s unity and commitment to make an indelible mark as a globally competitive and responsible driver of inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the Philippines. The Board of Directors of PNIA expresses its highest appreciation to Mr. Alcantara for exemplifying the values and professionalism of a true industry captain that is worthy of emulation and respect by the present and future generation of nickel industry leaders.

Clarence J. Pimentel, Jr.
