Company Overview


Citinickel Mines and Development Corporation (CMDC)  has been operating since 2011. It is primarily engaged to prospect, explore, locate, acquire, hold, work, develop, lease, operate and exploit mineral lands for chromite, copper, manganese, magnesite, silver, gold and other mineral products.

CMDC has the right to operate the 2,194 hectares of mines located in Narra and Sofronio Espanola in Palawan in the MIMAROPA region. It is covered by Mineral Production Sharing agreement (MPSA-229-2007-IVB) valid for 25 years. It has 4M WMT volume of production.


Contribution to the Economy


In 2018, CMDC remitted the amount of PhP42M to the national and local government.

IP royalties amounted to PhP 4.4M in 2018. To date, the company has remitted Php22.5M in IP royalties.

IP royalties primarily go to social development and livelihood programs aimed at enhancing the lives of the indigenous people of Palawan.


Employees


In 2018, CMDC recorded a total of 467 in its employ. Majority of the employees hail from Palawan.


EPEP Contributions


In 2018, CMDC accomplished its Environmental Enhancement and Protection Program (EPEP) with a total cost of PhP46.6 Million.

Major programs and activities for 2018 are reforestation, rehabilitation, and temporary revegetation.

The company conducted rehabilitation and reforestation covering 15.42 hectares of mined-out and other areas with 52,365 seedlings.

In 2018, the DENR issued DAO 2018-19 which mandates mining operations to implement a Temporary Revegetation Program (TRP) on top of current reforestation initiatives. In compliance, CMDC has planted 9.05 hectares and spent PhP59.7M.

CMDC has spent PhP61.3M in the first half of 2020 for their EPEP, and has planted 425 trees during that period.

To date, Citinickel Mines and Development Corporation contributed a total of PHP 67,019,961 for its SDMP.
